Company Performance Rating Assessment Program in Environmental Management (PROPER)
PROPER Elucidation
The Company Performance Rating Assessment Program (PROPER) is an evaluation of the performance of those responsible for and/or business activities in the field of environmental management which is carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) once a year as stated in Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 1 in 2021.
PROPER is an embodiment of transparency and democracy in environmental management in Indonesia as well as an effort to implement some of the principles of Good Governance in environmental management.
PROPER aims to encourage improved environmental management in order to create an environmentally friendly and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
PROPER Service Scope
The company’s PROPER rating consists of the following:
- Gold Rating: for companies that have consistently demonstrated excellence in industrial processes and services and have superior social innovation programs
- Green Rating: for companies that exceed compliance required by laws and regulations
- Blue Rating: for companies that have complied with environmental management efforts in accordance with regulatory provisions
- Red Rating: for companies whose environmental management efforts are carried out not in accordance with statutory provisions
- Black Rating: for companies that commit acts or omissions that cause environmental pollution and/or damage
Proper rating is in accordance with PERMENLHK no. 1 of 2022 consists of the following:
- March: determination of participant decree
- April: industry outreach
- May: SIMPLE charging
- June: interim ranking evaluation
- July: distribution of interim report cards
- August: determination of green candidates for green socialization
- September: determination of green candidates for green socialization
- October: announcement of green documents & determination of gold candidates
- November: evaluation of green documents & determination of gold candidates
- December: verlap of gold candidates and environmental awards
