SUCOFINDO PROMOTES SUSTAINABLE MINING PRACTICES IN THE COAL SECTOR

Banjarmasin, July 22, 2026 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) continues to expand its support for the implementation of sustainable mining practices through its Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services, which support quality assurance, environmental compliance, and the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in the coal sector.

This commitment was demonstrated through PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO)’s participation as a speaker at the 2026 South Kalimantan Roadshow of the Indonesian Coal Mining Association (APBI-ICMA). During the forum, SUCOFINDO presented the role of TIC services in supporting ESG implementation, strengthening mining governance, and enhancing the export competitiveness of Indonesian coal.

Head of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Banjarmasin Branch, Roni Gustiwa, stated that PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) is ready to support the industry’s transformation toward a more sustainable energy system.

“SUCOFINDO is committed to providing services that support the implementation of sustainability principles across various sectors, including the coal industry. Through our capabilities, SUCOFINDO serves as a verifier of quality and quantity in coal commodity shipment activities, for both domestic and export markets,” said Roni Gustiwa.

Furthermore, Roni Gustiwa explained that PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO)’s capabilities are not limited to downstream services but also cover midstream activities such as Quality Control Pit to Port. In addition, SUCOFINDO provides environmental monitoring services, flora and fauna surveys, as well as reclamation and post-mining services to support environmental management in mining areas.

“In line with our competencies in the TIC sector, SUCOFINDO continues to provide solutions that enhance industrial productivity while helping mining companies meet environmental compliance requirements and implement sustainable mining practices,” explained Roni Gustiwa.

Roni Gustiwa explained that, “As an independent survey institution, every verification process is not merely about producing reports or certificates, but represents a professional responsibility to build trust, support transaction certainty, and maintain the reputation of Indonesian coal in the international market,” said Roni Gustiwa.

Furthermore, Roni explained that PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) also supports ESG implementation through environmental monitoring services backed by KAN-accredited laboratories, as well as greenhouse gas emissions verification and validation services as part of the national decarbonization agenda.

Roni Gustiwa expressed his hope that cross-sector collaboration will continue to strengthen the implementation of sustainability in the mining sector, creating a balance between industrial growth, environmental protection, and community welfare.

Chair of the APBI-ICMA Domestic Marketing Committee, Nattasya, stated that verification is an essential part of good mining governance in the coal trade.

“Verification provides assurance that the coal being traded has met the required quantity, quality, documentation, and regulatory compliance standards, including the fulfillment of royalty payment obligations to the state,” said Nattasya.
