Jakarta (3/10) – PT SUCOFINDO successfully held the SUCOFINDO Science Hackathon Festival (SCIence HackFest) and the 2024 Business Innovation Festival on October 2–3, 2024, at its Jakarta headquarters. “We aim to establish PT SUCOFINDO as a Digital Testing, Inspection, Certification (TIC), and Green TIC company. Through this event, we collaborated with university students to create technological innovations and connect them with the business world. This initiative also reflects SUCOFINDO’s commitment to adapting to the needs of business stakeholders by offering digital efficiencies in business processes,” said Jobi Triananda, President Director of PT SUCOFINDO.
Jobi further explained that this was the second iteration of the SCIence HackFest, an open innovation competition aimed at developing technology-based solutions for Industry 4.0 challenges.
“The goal of this event is to strengthen the synergy between technology and the evolving global needs, especially in addressing issues such as carbon reduction, cybersecurity, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation,” Jobi added.
He also expressed hope that the technological innovations generated would benefit not only SUCOFINDO and businesses but also the government and society at large. “Technology serves as a key problem-solver, meeting diverse needs and enhancing the global competitiveness of businesses,” he emphasized.
Zulfikar Aspa, Chairman of the SCIence HackFest 2024 Committee, highlighted the strong enthusiasm for the event. “The response from stakeholders has been extraordinary. Many universities and private companies, both national and international, have actively participated,” he remarked.
The SCIence HackFest 2024 series began in May 2024, featuring activities such as SUCOFINDO Goes to Campus, registrations, finalist selection (Top 17), a boot camp, and final judging. “Overall, 53 teams comprising approximately 200 participants registered, with 17 teams advancing to the finals. The participants included PT SUCOFINDO employees, university students, professionals, and members of the public,” Zulfikar said.
One of the finalists of the 2024 Science HackFest from Telkom University, Vina Namira Andirna Andidi, shared that she and her team went through a rigorous selection and evaluation process by technology experts. The student team developed an innovative platform to enhance the efficiency of carbon reserve calculation and estimation processes in Indonesia. The platform is designed to support carbon trading activities in the country, aiming to simplify and accelerate the measurement, calculation, and estimation of carbon reserves. It will facilitate the Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes required in carbon trading mechanisms. Vina expressed her hopes that their project would become a tangible innovation implemented across various industries.
“This isn’t just about winning or losing; it’s about creating real change through technology. I’m driven to advance this project further, aiming for implementation to provide practical solutions for Indonesia,” Vina explained.
The SCIence HackFest 2024 also featured notable judges, including Eko Adjie Buwono, National Project Manager for the “Enhancing Readiness for the Transition to Electric Vehicles in Indonesia” (ENTREV) program by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources; Belladonna Troxylon Maulianda, Executive Director of the Indonesia Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) Center; and Uke Kurniawan Usman, a lecturer at Telkom University.
“I hope this activity becomes a hub for knowledge, experience, and resources, enabling collaboration to tackle the technological challenges facing the industrial sector,” concluded Eko Adjie Buwono.
