Jakarta, June 4, 2026 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), in collaboration with PT Reska Multi Usaha (KAI Services), is developing an integrated waste management system at Gambir Railway Station in Jakarta as part of efforts to strengthen sustainable environmental governance and reduce waste generation within public transportation areas.
The collaboration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between SUCOFINDO, KAI Services, and environmental management partners. The agreement was signed by Agus Permadi, Commercial Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), representing the President Director of SUCOFINDO, together with Krisna Arianto, President Director of KAI Services, and was witnessed by Diaz Hendropriyono, Deputy Minister of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia.
Deputy Minister Diaz Hendropriyono welcomed the initiative, noting that it aligns with the implementation of Minister of Environment/Environmental Control Agency Decree No. 2648 of 2025 concerning Technical Guidelines for Waste Management in Residential Areas, Industrial Areas, Commercial Areas, and Special Zones.
“The KAI Waste Management Program launched today represents a concrete contribution to strengthening the sustainable environmental management ecosystem. This initiative is aligned with national policies on waste reduction and environmental sustainability,” said Diaz Hendropriyono.
“We hope this program will become an important milestone in strengthening sustainable environmental governance and ESG implementation within Indonesia’s transportation sector,” he added.
As part of the collaboration, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) will support the development of a Regional Waste Management Plan (Rencana Pengelolaan Sampah Kawasan/RPSK) through a comprehensive Waste Management Assessment. The assessment aims to map existing conditions, identify waste generation potential, and explore opportunities to optimize waste management practices within the Gambir Station area.
Agus Permadi explained that, as a Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) company, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) plays a role in ensuring that the waste management system is designed in compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
He further noted that the development of a comprehensive waste management plan represents a concrete step toward improving environmental performance while enhancing operational cost efficiency.
“The Regional Waste Management Plan (RPSK) is designed to provide a comprehensive overview of existing conditions, waste generation potential, and opportunities for optimizing waste management within Gambir Station, which is managed by KAI Services,” Agus explained.
He also emphasized that cross-sector collaboration is a critical factor in supporting Indonesia’s sustainability goals.
“We believe that through close collaboration among all stakeholders, supported by SUCOFINDO’s expertise as a Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) company, Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission targets can be achieved gradually and sustainably,” said Agus Permadi.
This statement was echoed by KAI Services President Director Krisna Arianto, who stated that the program forms part of the company’s broader railway service transformation, focusing not only on operational excellence but also on environmental sustainability.
“This Integrated Waste Management Program reflects the KAI Group’s commitment to delivering modern and environmentally responsible public transportation services. Gambir Station serves as the first step in establishing a measurable, integrated waste management model that can be replicated at other railway stations across Indonesia,” said Krisna Arianto.
The program is also expected to support carbon emission reduction efforts through lower CO₂ emissions, improved environmental quality within station areas, and the creation of cleaner and more comfortable public service environments for railway passengers.
