Jakarta, June 8, 2026 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) officially launched the Environmental and Social Innovation Award (ENSIA) 2026, an award program that encourages the creation of the best environmental and social innovations from various business sectors in Indonesia. The launch of ENSIA 2026 is part of SUCOFINDO’s commitment to strengthening the implementation of sustainability principles while encouraging the business sector’s contribution in addressing the challenges of climate change and sustainable development.
Carrying the theme “Innovation for Sustainable Business and Resilient Communities,” ENSIA 2026 is expected to serve as a platform for companies to present innovations that not only create positive impacts on the environment and society but also strengthen business competitiveness and sustainability amid increasingly complex global dynamics.
President Director of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), Sandry Pasambuna, stated that the launch of ENSIA 2026 is a strategic step to expand the sustainability innovation movement in Indonesia.
“ENSIA reflects SUCOFINDO’s commitment to encouraging the business sector to continue innovating and take an active role in addressing various environmental and social challenges. Through ENSIA 2026, we aim to provide a collaborative platform that can accelerate the development of innovative solutions that deliver tangible benefits to society, the environment, and business sustainability,” said Sandry.
According to Sandry, businesses today are no longer only expected to generate economic growth but must also be able to create sustainable positive impacts. Therefore, innovation is the key to creating a balance between business growth, environmental preservation, and the improvement of community welfare.
“Through ENSIA 2026, we hope more companies will showcase their best practices in environmental management and community empowerment. The resulting innovations are expected to support climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, strengthen community resilience, and create sustainable added value for the business sector,” he added.
As part of the ENSIA 2026 launch series, SUCOFINDO organized Cerita Bersama SUCOFINDO (Carbon Talk), bringing together stakeholders from the government, research institutions, and the industrial sector to discuss the challenges and opportunities in addressing climate change.
During the session, Director of Climate Change Adaptation at the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Indonesia, Franky Zamzani, explained that climate change has affected various strategic sectors, ranging from food, water resources, energy, and health to ecosystems. Therefore, strengthening adaptation capacity has become an essential part of sustainable development.
Furthermore, Franky added that the government continues to promote integrated, inclusive, and science-based climate adaptation efforts to strengthen social, economic, and ecosystem resilience. “These efforts are implemented through various priority programs in the food, water resources, energy, health, and ecosystem sectors to reduce the risks and impacts of climate change. This is in line with the Ministry of Environment’s pillars, namely the five priority areas of adaptation stipulated in Presidential Regulation Number 110 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of Carbon Economic Value Instruments and National Greenhouse Gas Emission Control,” said Franky.
Meanwhile, Head of the Research Organization for Life Sciences and Environment at BRIN, Andes Hamuraby Rozak, highlighted the importance of research and innovation in supporting climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. According to him, sustainable ecosystem management requires a science-based approach to produce measurable and impactful solutions.
Andes Hamuraby Rozak further stated that Nature-based Solutions have become a growing trend as an approach to ecosystem protection, sustainable utilization, and restoration.
“Restoration is not only focused on planting but also integrates climate, biodiversity, and community aspects. Sustainably implemented peatland restoration can support climate change mitigation, biodiversity recovery, and improved community welfare through scientific support, continuous monitoring, and community participation,” said Andes.
On the same occasion, Senior Staff of General Affairs & CSR at PT Smelting, Rachmayani, emphasized the important role of the business sector in supporting climate change control through collaboration with communities. According to her, businesses can contribute through various environmental programs, ranging from waste management, water conservation, and reforestation to sustainable community empowerment.
“Climate change control is not only the responsibility of the government but a shared responsibility. Collaboration between the business sector and communities is the key to creating a sustainable future,” said Rachmayani.
Closing the ENSIA 2026 launch event, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) invited all businesses, institutions, and organizations across Indonesia to participate in this event as a platform to share innovations, strengthen collaboration, and demonstrate tangible contributions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and national climate change control efforts.
