Head of the Upstream Oil & Gas and Petroleum Products Strategic Business Unit (HMPM SBU) of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), Zakir Mursalin, stated that the service serves as an independent assurance mechanism for the distribution of subsidized fuel, supporting the reliability and continuity of vessel operations.
“Our bunker survey services reflect PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO)’s commitment to ensuring smooth and reliable vessel operations. Fuel bunkering activities carry potential long-term risks and financial losses if they are not monitored and supervised properly,” said Zakir Mursalin.
He further explained that bunker surveys are conducted to obtain accurate fuel quantity measurements, which serve as a critical foundation for operational reliability and accountability in maritime transportation.
“To ensure transparency and accuracy throughout the fuel delivery process, oversight by an independent surveyor is essential. PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) possesses the expertise, capacity, and capabilities required to carry out bunker survey supervision professionally and in accordance with applicable standards,” he added.
The implementation of bunker survey services is conducted in compliance with internationally recognized standards, including the American Petroleum Institute (API) Manual of Petroleum Measurement Standards (MPMS), American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Standards related to measurement, density determination, and sampling, ASTM/API Petroleum Measurement Tables, internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and occupational health and safety regulations.
“As a result, all bunker survey activities are carried out in accordance with the principles of regulatory compliance, data traceability, and measurement accountability,” Zakir Mursalin concluded.
Previously, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) also supported the smooth distribution of fuel supplies during the Christmas and New Year holiday period for KM Sangiang on January 6, a period marked by increased maritime transportation activities and higher sailing intensity.
