SUCOFINDO Strengthens Indonesia’s Carbon Value Ecosystem Through Cross-Sector Collaboration

Jakarta, February 13 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting Indonesia’s carbon emission reduction agenda through active participation in the National Seminar titled “Carbon Emission Monetization: A New Strategy to Enhance Corporate Performance.” Held at the Perbanas Institute Auditorium, the event aimed to strengthen capacity, align stakeholder understanding, and foster cross-sector collaboration to accelerate the development of Indonesia’s carbon business ecosystem.

The seminar was attended by PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO)’s Director of Human Resources, Budi Utomo, Director of Operations Dani Pramantyo, Chairwoman of the Association of Carbon and Sustainable Business Practitioners (Atkarbonist) Musdhalifah Machmud, and Rector of Perbanas Institute Hermanto Siregar.

Director of Human Resources of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), Budi Utomo, emphasized that as a state-owned enterprise operating in the Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) sector, SUCOFINDO continues to play an active role in supporting Indonesia’s decarbonization agenda.

“SUCOFINDO serves a strategic role as a Validation and Verification Body (VVB), accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Carbon Economic Value (NEK) schemes. This role ensures that every emission reduction claim is measurable, transparent, and compliant with applicable standards,” said Budi Utomo.

He further explained that SUCOFINDO’s contribution extends beyond validation and verification services to include consultancy and comprehensive green business solutions that support organizations in achieving their sustainability goals.

Echoing this commitment, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) Director of Operations Dani Pramantyo highlighted the importance of collective action in achieving meaningful emission reductions.

“Effective emissions reduction requires collaboration among all stakeholders. SUCOFINDO stands ready to support various sectors in taking concrete actions to reduce their carbon footprint and contribute to global sustainability objectives,” said Dani Pramantyo.

Delivering the keynote address, Chairwoman of Atkarbonist Musdhalifah Machmud emphasized that climate change is no longer solely an environmental issue but has become a critical factor influencing global investment trends, international trade, and corporate business strategies.

“Companies that are able to manage emissions transparently and accurately will gain competitive advantages, improved access to green financing, and stronger reputations in the global marketplace,” she stated.

Musdhalifah further noted that together with strategic partners, Atkarbonist remains committed to building a collaborative ecosystem capable of accelerating sustainable business implementation in Indonesia. Such collaboration is expected to stimulate green economic growth, create new investment opportunities, and enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian industries on the global stage.

“We hope this seminar serves as a strategic forum for strengthening understanding of carbon emission monetization while encouraging meaningful collaboration among stakeholders. Sustainability is not merely an environmental commitment—it is a long-term strategy for future growth,” she added.

As one of the seminar speakers, Dikman Purnama, Head of Climate Solutions and Sustainable Energy Unit at PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), outlined SUCOFINDO’s active role in supporting the development of a high-integrity carbon market in Indonesia.

According to Dikman, Indonesia has established a strong commitment to climate change mitigation through various strategic policies, including the implementation of the Carbon Economic Value (NEK) framework as an instrument to encourage measurable and sustainable greenhouse gas emission reductions.

“PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) performs a strategic role as a Validation and Verification Body under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Carbon Economic Value (NEK) schemes, ensuring the integrity of emission reduction claims. In parallel, the SRN-KLH MRV team plays a vital role in ensuring that Measurement, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) processes are implemented in accordance with national and international regulations and standards,” Dikman explained.

He further highlighted SUCOFINDO’s role as an independent Validation and Verification Body (VVB), ensuring that greenhouse gas emission information is assessed through a systematic, documented, and objective process conducted by qualified validators and verifiers.

“We believe that strong collaboration across sectors will enable Indonesia to establish a high-integrity carbon market that not only supports the achievement of Net Zero Emissions targets but also enhances the nation’s competitiveness in the global economy,” Dikman concluded.

To further support climate change mitigation efforts, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) offers a broad range of sustainability services, including environmental monitoring and management automation systems, land and thematic mapping, environmental audits, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) improvement and consultancy services, sustainable and green mining solutions, green smelter initiatives, sustainable procurement programs, ecolabel certification, green office and green building assessments, green port development, renewable energy consultancy, Green Project Management, Green Industry certification, Green Gold Label (GGL) certification, and Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) / Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage (CCUS) services.
