Jakarta, April 20, 2026 – The Indonesian Government continues to strengthen the implementation of load line certification requirements for Indonesian-flagged vessels as part of its efforts to reduce maritime accidents caused by overloading. In support of this initiative, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) is contributing through the enhancement of technical draught survey education for personnel of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation under the Ministry of Transportation.
The capacity-building initiative was conducted through a technical guidance program on April 15, 2026, focusing on improving understanding of barge cargo calculation methodologies as part of broader efforts to maintain vessel stability and operational safety.
Head of Service Unit, Sorong Branch – Timika Office of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), Capt. Awaluddin, emphasized that load line certification serves as a critical component of Indonesia’s maritime safety framework.
“The implementation of load line certification is intended to ensure vessel stability, particularly when operating under adverse weather conditions or high sea states, while also mitigating the risks associated with overloading,” said Capt. Awaluddin.
According to him, compliance with these standards also contributes to enhancing international confidence in Indonesian-flagged vessels and strengthening the competitiveness of the national maritime sector.
He further explained that PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) supports the implementation of this policy through various technical services, including barge cargo quantity calculations conducted in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
“Accurate and objective technical data are essential to supporting vessel validation processes and ensuring compliance with maritime safety requirements,” he added.
In addition to providing technical services, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) also serves as a source of technical expertise for industry stakeholders seeking to improve their understanding of the latest certification standards and regulatory developments within the maritime sector.
This role is supported by the Company’s extensive infrastructure, including 68 laboratories, 29 branch offices, and 93 service points strategically located throughout Indonesia.
Through its draught survey services, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) determines bulk cargo quantities by measuring vessel displacement changes before and after loading or unloading operations, while also accounting for non-cargo weight variations occurring during the operational process.
The service is carried out through a systematic approach encompassing document review, technical measurements, data analysis, and reporting.
“We ensure that every stage of the draught survey process is conducted with accuracy, transparency, and professionalism to provide reliable cargo quantity assurance,” Capt. Awaluddin stated.
Beyond draught surveys, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) provides a comprehensive range of maritime survey services, including bunker surveys, towing and lashing surveys, cargo stowage surveys, cleanliness surveys, hose testing, damage surveys, and other specialized maritime inspection services.
Capt. Awaluddin added that the Company remains committed to serving as a strategic partner to both government institutions and industry stakeholders in promoting maritime safety, enhancing logistics efficiency, and strengthening trust across global trade supply chains.
