Kebumen, February 12 – PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Unit, reaffirms its commitment to supporting the National Waste Management Movement and Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions target. As part of this commitment, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) has provided geomembrane assistance for landfill covering operations at the Kaligending Final Disposal Site (TPA) in Kebumen Regency.
This initiative represents a concrete step in supporting the transition from an open dumping system to a controlled landfill approach. The installation of geomembranes helps reduce methane gas emissions, minimize leachate contamination, and mitigate risks associated with odors, disease vectors, and fires caused by methane accumulation.
Head of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Unit of PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO), Nuri Hidayat, stated that the program aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to responsible consumption and production, climate action, and the protection of terrestrial ecosystems.
“Our collaboration with the Kebumen Environmental, Housing, and Land Agency (DLHKP) since 2023 has resulted in the installation of biogas systems utilizing methane gas, and this effort is now strengthened through geomembrane assistance. This initiative not only provides environmental infrastructure solutions but also ensures long-term benefits for communities surrounding the landfill. We hope this effort will contribute meaningfully to Indonesia’s journey toward Net Zero Emissions,” said Nuri Hidayat.
The assistance also supports the Climate Village Program (ProKlim) by strengthening community capacity for climate change adaptation and mitigation.
Nuri Hidayat further explained, “Waste management has become a national challenge. The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) has introduced a moratorium on the development of new landfill sites while encouraging the transformation of existing facilities into sanitary landfill systems. SUCOFINDO’s TJSL program in Kaligending demonstrates our support for this policy while delivering innovative solutions to environmental challenges.”
In 2025, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) also initiated a biogas optimization program at the Ciniru Integrated Waste Processing Site (TPSA) in Kuningan Regency, West Java. The program incorporates SUCOFINDO’s service portfolio to ensure methane emission reduction efforts are properly monitored and measured. The resulting methane emission reduction calculations will serve as a key performance indicator for evaluating the program’s contribution to environmental improvement.
“Through this geomembrane assistance, SUCOFINDO reinforces its role as a Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) company that not only delivers professional services but also creates meaningful social and environmental value. We are committed to ensuring that every TJSL initiative contributes to Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions targets,” Nuri Hidayat concluded.
In addition, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) supports the optimization of CSR programs for businesses through a range of services, including social mapping, ISO 26000 consulting, Sustainability Report preparation, Community Satisfaction Index (CSI) measurement, and CSR impact evaluation using the Social Return on Investment (SROI) methodology.
Through this comprehensive approach, PT SUCOFINDO (PERSERO) is ready to assist institutions and businesses in developing CSR programs that are more targeted, aligned with corporate strategies, responsive to community needs, and supportive of Indonesia’s Net Zero Emissions 2060 agenda.
