Supporting Decarbonization of Capital Market, SUCOFINDO Trains How to Calculate Carbon Emissions to 110 Emitters

JAKARTA, September 9, 2024 – As the knowledge partner in the IDX Net Zero Incubator 2024 program organized by PT Bursa Efek Indonesia (IDX), PT SUCOFINDO provided training on calculating and assessing greenhouse gas emissions to 110 companies listed on the IDX. This training is a form of SUCOFINDO’s commitment to support decarbonization efforts in Indonesia, especially for companies that have been listed on the IDX.

IDX officially launched the IDX Net Zero Incubator program on Thursday (1/8) to support transparency and decarbonization of listed companies. IDX Net Zero Incubator is a training program divided into several continuous training modules. The first module or Module 1 has been implemented in conjunction with the launch of the program. Meanwhile, Module 2 training related to the Assessment of Greenhouse Gas Emissions (Scope 1 & 2) has been carried out for 2 days (20-21 August 2024). This training includes the study of how to calculate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

SUCOFINDO Industrial Services Director, Budi Utomo, appreciated IDX’s move to launch the IDX Net Zero Incubator Program. He stated that this program is an important step in assisting companies that have been listed on the stock exchange (listed companies) to strengthen their commitment to reducing carbon emissions (decarbonization).

“We express our pride and appreciation for the trust as Knowledge Partner the IDX Net Zero Incubator. Greenhouse gas emissions are one of the main causes of climate change that threatens life on Earth. For this reason, in this Net Zero Incubator training, we will learn how to calculate and document decarbonization efforts that have been carried out by companies so that they can be submitted in reporting the Sustainability Report [Sustainability Report]. We will understand whether the decarbonization steps that have been taken are in line with the roadmap, ” said Budi, Monday (26/8/2024).

He emphasized that, as a Verification and Validation institution (LVV) that has been accredited by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN), SUCOFINDO is committed to supporting decarbonization efforts in Indonesia. In addition, according to him, SUCOFINDO’s role is not limited to providing validation and verification services but also includes consulting and holistic green business solutions.

“We understand that the challenge in achieving decarbonization is not simple. Therefore, we provide services that cover the entire spectrum of company needs, from strategic consulting to verification of greenhouse gas emissions, and assist companies in creating added value through principles of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and carbon trading.”

Budi added that through cooperation with the IDX and other stakeholders, SUCOFINDO will continue its commitment to supporting this journey to achieve a greener and more sustainable Indonesia. “I hope this training can provide deep insight and practical skills to all participants. Hence, we can take concrete steps to reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to the global sustainability goals,” explained Budi.

Director of Trading and Member Regulation of the IDX Exchange, Irvan Susandy, appreciates SUCOFINDO who has worked with the IDX as Knowledge Partner the IDX Net Zero Incubator. He also said, “The IDX also hopes that the IDX Net Zero Incubator program can provide inspiration and motivation for listed companies to increase their commitment to support the company’s sustainability strategy and start the company’s decarbonization journey.” Irvan said in his speech at the launch of IDX Net Zero Incubator (1/8).

The IDX conducted the IDX Net Zero Incubator program during August-November 2024 which was attended by 110 listed companies and was free of charge. The Program is divided into several continuous training modules, ranging from climate change risk recognition, emissions calculation, decarbonization target planning, and emissions reporting. IDX Net Zero Incubator has several objectives namely to support the transparency and decarbonization efforts of listed companies, to provide knowledge and technical capabilities of companies in calculating emissions and reporting them in the Sustainability Report accurately and transparently, to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of enterprises, and to create opportunities capital inflow through investments that prioritize low-emission environmental aspects.
