Buli (3/6) – The Regent of East Halmahera, Ubaid Yakub, inaugurated the Buli Site Laboratory of PT SUCOFINDO in East Halmahera Regency, North Maluku. This site represents the commitment of PT SUCOFINDO to supporting economic development and progress in East Halmahera Regency, and North Maluku at large, through its Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services.
“We appreciate the management of PT SUCOFINDO for expanding its capacity in East Halmahera. We hope that PT SUCOFINDO will not only serve as a complement, but also become a key player in developing the East Halmahera region through its Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services,” said East Halmahera Regent Ubaid Yakub.
Furthermore, Ubaid Yakub hopes that SUCOFINDO can maximize its capacity, not only through laboratory testing services but also by providing inspection services in other business sectors. “Inspection services are greatly needed in East Halmahera, particularly in developing the potential of the fisheries, agriculture, and tourism sectors. We also hope that PT SUCOFINDO can collaborate in empowering the community in East Halmahera,” said Ubaid Yakub.
The Head of the Natural Resources Services Sub-Directorate of PT SUCOFINDO, Nur Efendi, stated that the presence of the Buli Site Laboratory of PT SUCOFINDO will support and contribute to the development of the mining and processing industry, agriculture, plantations, fisheries, tourism, government, and other sectors sustainably and responsibly.
“We are able to support the competitiveness of East Halmahera with our Testing, Inspection, and Certification (TIC) services, not only focusing on the mining sector but also integrating with other services of SUCOFINDO’s Makassar Branch and Manado Service Office. These include Domestic Component Level (TKDN) Certification, Environmental Impact Analysis (AMDAL) Consultation, public services, inspection, testing, and other environmental services, Green Industry and carbon credits (in line with the role of PT SUCOFINDO, as an accredited Validation and Verification Institution (VVI) for the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) and Carbon Economic Value (CEV) schemes), and other TIC services that support environmental sustainability,” said Nur Efendi.
Especially in the mining sector, Vice President of the Mineral SBU at PT SUCOFINDO, Paolo Manurung, stated that the presence of PT SUCOFINDO, particularly in North Maluku, can support business actors in the mining industry by prioritizing sustainable mining practices. “There are 125 Mining Business Permits (IUP) in North Maluku, and through the presence of PT SUCOFINDO in North Maluku, such as at the Weda, Buli, and Obi Sites, we are able to assist mining industry players, whether for exploration needs, quality control, or product trade management, including through the development of onsite laboratories,” said Paolo.
The Buli Site Laboratory of PT SUCOFINDO also provides preparation and testing facilities that can enhance the speed and accuracy of mineral testing results. “The Buli Site Laboratory has a large sample testing capacity (reaching up to 12,000 samples per month), which enables us to provide accurate results more efficiently. Moving forward, we are committed to providing the best services, particularly in testing the quality of mineral and coal content, as well as strengthening our capacity as a TIC Institution for other business sectors, to support economic development in East Halmahera and North Maluku in general,” said Paolo.
