Jakarta, 20/3 – PT SUCOFINDO has successfully achieved appreciation in the Sustainability category for Community Involvement and Development (CID) at the BUMN Corporate Communication and Sustainability Summit (BCOMSS) 2024. The appreciation was given for PT SUCOFINDO’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program in optimizing the utilization of biogas from the sanitary landfill at Kaligending Final Disposal Site (TPA). This recognition was directly awarded by Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Erick Thohir to PT SUCOFINDO’s Director of Finance and Risk Management, Budi Hartanto, in Jakarta. (7/3).
“We express our gratitude for the trust placed in us through this appreciation from KBUMN. SUCOFINDO’s TJSL program focuses on implementing Sustainability and Development Goals, and has been able to create shared value for both the community and the company’s environment, such as SUCOFINDO’s initiative in optimizing the utilization of biogas from the sanitary landfill at TPA,” said Director of Finance and Risk Management Budi Hartanto.
This program aligns with PT SUCOFINDO’s commitment to environmental sustainability through the utilization of biogas and promoting a circular economy. “The methane gas contained in the waste piles has great potential to be used as an alternative fuel for cooking, and in the future, it could potentially be used for power generation and vehicle fuel. Moreover, using biogas from waste at the TPA can be an economical and efficient choice for the local community,” said Budi Hartanto.
Budi Hartanto hopes to make TPA Kaligending a model for supporting the development of a Center of Excellence & Research in future periods.
“We have also initiated the formation of Community Self-Help Groups (KSM/Pokmas) as a means of communication and coordination for beneficiaries of biogas from waste at TPA to convert into renewable energy (biogas),” said Budi Hartanto.
Through this program, biogas pipelines totaling 1,036 meters have been distributed, benefiting 44 households or approximately 148 people in Kaligending Village. Another benefit of this program includes reducing LPG gas purchases by the community by 103 cylinders per month and decreasing tree cutting by households that still use firewood for cooking.
“Moving forward, we aim to consistently expand the utilization of biogas, broaden its coverage area, and continue creating programs for the community and environment. For us, TJSL BUMN serves as a change agent in promoting economic equality and balance across all Indonesian society,” said Budi Hartanto.
Furthermore, to support the TJSL program, PT SUCOFINDO is also capable of providing services such as social mapping, ISO 26000 consultancy services including Gap Analysis, ISO 26000 Training, Sustainability Report preparation, determination of Community Satisfaction Index (CSI) through Community Satisfaction Index, and measuring CSR program impacts using the SROI (Social Return On Investment) method.
