Weda (10/2) – PT SUCOFINDO inaugurated the Weda Site in Central Halmahera Regency, North Maluku. This site is PT SUCOFINDO’s commitment in realizing support for smelter operations, which the government has announced to establish 53 smelters in Indonesia. “Weda site is capable of serving Mineral and Coal Inspection and Testing activities for smelter products, such as nickel ore and other nickel derivative products. In addition, our site is located close to the largest smelter in North Maluku Province which is located in Lelilef, Central Halmahera,” said PT SUCOFINDO President Director Mas Wigrantoro Roes Setiyadi.
With the inauguration of the Weda Site, according to Mas Wigrantoro, is also a concrete step in supporting SUCOFINDO’s business refocusing in IDSurvey, namely supporting government policies in downstream mining products and supporting sustainable mining practices (sustainable mining practices).
Furthermore, Mas Wigrantoro hopes that with Site Weda he will be able to attract a wider range of customers. “Not only focusing on Mineral and Coal services, but the Weda Site is also able to develop regional potential, especially in serving services in the Certification and Eco-Framework, Oil and Gas, Testing and Calibration Laboratories, Commodities, and Trade Solutions, Halal certification,” said Mas Wigrantoro.
In line with Mas Wigrantoro, the Head of SBU Mineral Suprapto said that the Weda Site is SUCOFINDO’s effort to penetrate existing customers and capture new customers. “Our location is close to the majority of mining areas, which are in Central Halmahera (Lelilef and Gebe), East Halmahera (Subaim, Buli, and Maba), and South Halmahera (Obi). However, it is possible for the Weda Site to be able to serve potential customers in mining areas and other mining industries in North Maluku Province and other nearby provinces such as Gag Island,” said Suprapto.
Therefore, with this location approach, Suprapto hopes to increase service time, which has so far depended on the Sucofindo Laboratories in Makassar and Kendari.
Suprapto added that Site Weda is also equipped with the latest equipment. “We provide the best for our customers, such as for mineral testing, the Weda Site Laboratory provides preparation and testing facilities with XRF Epsilon 4 which can increase the speed and accuracy of mineral testing results,” said Suprapto.
Meanwhile, Pj. Central Halmahera Regent Ikram Malan Sangadji said that the existence of this laboratory would make it easier to carry out tests.
He also said he saw the prospect of a very broad assignment of Sucofindo in various business sectors, which would be able to fulfill the increasing potential of the Central Halmahera region and its surroundings. “SUCOFINDO’s business is very broad in various sectors including the electricity sector. So, I hope that SUCOFINDO and the Regional Government can collaborate to increase the potential of the region,” said Ikram.
Head of PT Sucofindo Makassar Branch, Gatot Kafrawi, said that his party is ready to support the Regional Government of Central Halmahera and its surroundings. “Our hope is that the presence of the Sucofindo Site Weda laboratory will speed up the testing process of activities in the mineral and coal sectors,” said Gatot.
Going forward, according to Gatot, Site Weda is able to support services for the environment. “The Weda Site, which is still under the auspices of SUCOFINDO Makassar Branch, can serve Certification and Eco-Framework, Calibration Laboratories, Halal Certification, Industry, and other business sectors according to the needs of Central Halmahera and its surroundings,” said Gatot.
