Presenting Carbon Talk, SUCOFINDO’s Commitment to Driving Sustainability

Jakarta, 16/5 – As a commitment to supporting environmental sustainability, particularly in emissions reduction, PT SUCOFINDO organized a web seminar (webinar) called Carbon Talk (Cerita Bersama SUCOFINDO), attended by business stakeholders online. “This activity is also part of our journey towards the Environmental, Social, and Innovation Awards (ENSIA), aligning with our support for the Proper program by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK). We recognize that realizing environmental mitigation requires commitment and concrete actions from all parties. Therefore, through this webinar, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of collaborating to manage and preserve environmental sustainability,” said Jobi Triananda, President Director of PT SUCOFINDO.

Jobi Triananda added that through the Carbon Series 1, the program is committed to mitigating environmental issues, “Especially regarding plastic waste management, as plastic waste is one of the catalysts for environmental damage and a contributor to carbon emissions, requiring collective solutions and innovations. We hope that through this initiative, we can inspire collaborative innovation and solutions for environmental and social management,” said Jobi Triananda.

The event of Carbon Series 1 was attended by speakers, namely Billy Mambrasar, Special Staff to the President of Indonesia; Sri Sumiyati, Environmental Engineering Lecturer at Diponegoro University; and Budi Utomo, Director of Industrial Services at PT SUCOFINDO. They discussed the importance of pentahelix collaboration in waste management.

“The waste problem is a critical issue now because it significantly contributes to carbon emissions impacting the future. Furthermore, it is necessary to strengthen pentahelix collaboration between central and regional governments, media, private sector/business actors, and higher education institutions. Therefore, I appreciate SUCOFINDO for organizing this event and serving as a facilitator in addressing waste management issues,” said Billy Mambrasar, Special Staff to the President of the Republic of Indonesia.

Similarly, Sri Sumiyati, an Environmental Engineering Lecturer at Diponegoro University, emphasized the importance of collaboration across various aspects of waste management. “Awareness of the importance of waste management needs to be instilled in every individual, and collaboration is essential across different sectors such as community groups, local governments, businesses, and others,” said Sri Sumiyati.

Furthermore, Budi Utomo, Director of Industrial Services at PT SUCOFINDO, stated that SUCOFINDO is ready to support environmental mitigation efforts to reduce plastic waste in Indonesia. “As we support eco-friendly goods and services policies, SUCOFINDO provides eco-label verification services and has been appointed by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry to assist businesses wishing to self-declare eco-labels for their products,” said Budi Utomo.

In addition, to support businesses in implementing environmental mitigation actions, SUCOFINDO can provide validation and verification services for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) schemes, Carbon Economic Value, and other services to support compliance with the Corporate Performance Rating Program or Program Penilaian Peringkat Kinerja Perusahaan (PROPER).

Among other services, SUCOFINDO offers ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) improvement and consultation services. These services assist businesses in enhancing awareness and corporate reputation regarding ESG ratings, aligned with investor and/or investment fund requirements during the implementation stage of the ESG Roadmap. SUCOFINDO also assures sustainability reports.

The ESG roadmap consultation is crucial for policymakers to prepare and assess how to manage risks and opportunities related to sustainability issues regarding three key elements, namely environment, social impacts, and governance structure. “The implementation of ESG is important because it serves as a framework that stakeholders use to evaluate how companies manage risks and opportunities related to sustainability issues,” concluded Budi Utomo.
