Here’s How To Get The Zero Accident Award, Must Try!

The Zero Accident Award is one of the awards given by the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia to companies that have succeeded in implementing occupational safety and health programs to achieve zero work accidents at any given time. Suppose your company is in a condition where no accident makes workers unable to work for 2 x 24 hours, which results in the cessation of the process or damage to equipment without casualties where the loss of working time does not exceed the next shift and a certain number of working hours. In that case, your company can apply Zero Accident Award.

The following conditions you must meet to apply for the Zero Accident Award:

  1. The Company has implemented Occupational Safety and Health Management System and Occupational Safety and Health Management System Audit for 3 (three) years.
  2. Submit an application to the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia c.q. Director General of Binawas through Regency/City Governments.
  3. Completing supporting data in accordance with the provisions stipulated in the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Ministerial Decree Number PER-01/MEN/I/2007 concerning Guidelines for Awarding Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).
  4. The assessment team checks the correctness of the application and the data submitted and conducts inspections at the company’s location.
  5. The assessment team reports the assessment results to the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration for the stipulation of the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Ministerial Decree.
  6. The Minister of Manpower and Transmigration of the Republic of Indonesia or other officials appointed to provide the Zero Accident Award.

As for point 4, the assessment team conducts inspections of the company, which include:

  • General management policy and support for OSH programs outside the company.
  • OSH organization and administration.
  • Industrial hazard control.
  • Fire control and industrial hygiene.
  • Participation, motivation, supervision, and training.
  • Data collection, accident examination, statistics, and reporting procedures.

After fulfilling the above requirements, your company must also meet the criteria as follows:

  • Total manpower
  1. Large Enterprises : the number of workers is more than 100 people.
  2. Medium Enterprises : the number of workers is around 50 – 100 people.
  3. Small Enterprise : the number of workers is up to 49 people.
  • Business sector based on KLUI (Indonesia Standard Industrial Classification) and hazard risk weight
  1. Machinery, aircraft, work tools, other equipment, materials, and so on;
  2. Environment;
  3. Nature of work;
  4. Procedure;
  5. Production process.

So that each group of companies is given a value weight of up to 5 according to the matrix set in the Minister of Manpower and Transmigration Ministerial Decree Number PER-01/MEN/I/2007 concerning Guidelines for Awarding Occupational Safety and Health (K3).
