Maintain Quality Water Quality by Monitoring Water Using KLHK’s Sparing
KLHK Sparing is a system that must be implemented in industrial areas. Several fields that need to use this system include the rayon industry, the pulp industry, the paper industry, upstream petrochemicals, palm oil, oil refineries, mining, the textile industry, and the fertilizer industry.
The sparring system’s purpose is to find the parameter values. The parameters referred to include pH, COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand), TSS (Total Suspended Solid), and NH3-N (Ammonia as Nitrogen).
The difference between Sparing and Onlimo
Sparing KLHK or Industrial Water Quality Monitoring System, is a continuous industrial wastewater quality monitoring system. It is carried out in a network that is integrated in real-time and online into the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry database server.
Onlimo or Online Water Quality Monitoring is a system implemented by the ministry of environment and forestry at the environmental services in certain areas. Especially areas with rivers or waters as the daily life of living things.
Both are water quality monitoring systems and use sensors that have been integrated with data loggers, data transmissions, and database systems to facilitate the management of water quality monitoring data. So, what’s the difference between the two?
Differences between Onlimo and Sparing Water Quality Monitoring
1. Determination of monitoring locations
Onlimo determines the location of water quality monitoring based on several criteria, while sparring requires 11 industries to monitor water quality.
2. Parameters measured
Onlimo has 11 parameters that are measured in monitoring water quality, while the parameters measured in sparring vary according to the industry that monitors water quality.
3. Monitoring location
Usually Onlimo monitors the quality of water in rivers, lakes, and seas. Sparing monitors the quality of wastewater around industrial areas.
Sparring Registration Mechanism for Business Players
The government requires business actors to install sparring; this is stated in Article 14 of Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number P.93/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/8/2018 concerning Monitoring of Wastewater Quality Continuously and in Networks for Businesses And/or Activities, states that the person in charge of the business and/or activity is required to install SPARING no later than 2 (two) years after this Ministerial Regulation is stipulated (31 August 2018).
The Directorate of Water Pollution Control will open registration for sparring through the website http://sparing.ppkl.menlhk.go.id, with the registration mechanism as follows:
1. Registration
Registration is done for online registration for the person in charge of the business. Business actors are required to register and fill out all proof forms, such as:
- General charging
- Filling in and submitting evidence of identification requirements for pollutant sources
- Completion and delivery of proof of technical requirements
2. Acceptance of Username, Password, and User Identification
Evidence and data are declared valid through proof of requirements for identification of pollutant sources and technical requirements for Sparing following the Regulation of the Minister of Environment Number P.93/MENLHK/SETJEN/KUM.1/8/2018 and Regulation of the Minister of Environment Number P.80/MENLHK/SETJEN /KUM.1/10/2019. Business actors will receive an email containing a username, password, and user identification.
Username, password, and user identification will be sent to the email address registered on the registration form via email to sparing.menlhk@gmail.com if all fields are complete and declared valid by the SPARING KLHK Admin. Email will be sent by 7 working days.
However, suppose the data entry is incomplete, and the evidence is invalid. In that case, the Sparing KLHK process will convey the deficiencies via registered email, so that the business actor can complete the required data and evidence.
