BATULICIN — The Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) in Tanah Bumbu Regency, South Kalimantan Province collaborated with the Batulicin Branch of PT SUCOFINDO to promote halal product certification for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at the regional office’s hall on Tuesday (2/7/2024) morning.
The speakers at the promotion event were the Head of the Community Guidance Section at Tanah Bumbu Regional Office of Kemenag Abdul Hamid, the Head of PT SUCOFINDO Batulicin Branch Muhammad Eko Supriana, and the Head of the Slaughterhouse Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) at Tanah Bumbu Office of Food Security and Agriculture drh. Ali Mubin.
The head of Tanah Bumbu Regional Office of Kemenag Rusbandi stated that the halal promotion event aimed at providing insight and knowledge on the importance of halal certification for food and beverage products, adding that halal certification can maintain MSMEs’ product quality.
Rusbandi also encouraged and urged the community to register their products for halal certification.
“As of now, 149 halal certifications have been issued for free to MSMEs for food products that do not contain meat or poultry,” he said.
Rusbandi also expressed hope that MSME businesspeople selling products containing meat or poultry will slaughter the animals at a halal-certified slaughterhouse.
“I hope the slaughterhouses will be [halal-] certified, and the slaughterers will be from Halal Slaughterer [Association] or Juleha,” he said.
In the meantime, the Head of SUCOFINDO Batulicin Branch Muhammad Eko Supriana pointed out that as a Halal Inspection Agency (LPH), SUCOFINDO can conduct inspections and provide consultation during the halal certification process of MSME products.
“SUCOFINDO has been accredited as the Main Halal Inspection Agency (LPH), and we are ready to support the government of Tanah Bumbu Regency in halal certification to level up MSMEs,” Eko said.
Eko further stated that PT SUCOFINDO could also support the government of Tanah Bumbu Regency in issuing halal certificates for animal slaughterhouses and poultry slaughterhouses. This measure can aid MSMEs selling products containing meat and poultry ingredients that face hindrances in processing halal certification.
“With support from the government, we hope that animal slaughterhouses and poultry slaughterhouses can be halal-certified in Tanah Bumbu,” he said.
