Jakarta, 13/3 – PT SUCOFINDO, in its role as a Main Halal Inspection Agency (LPH), capable of conducting halal inspections for international industry players, has carried out the halal certification process for Japanese industry players Umeken Co. Ltd and Ichimaru Pharcos Co. Ltd, partners of Halalin.
Halalin CEO Yulia stated that this trust is an honor for Halalin in assisting the halal certification process for Umeken Co. Ltd’s supplement products and Ichimaru Pharcos Co. Ltd’s cosmetic products. “Halalin’s role as an aggregator facilitates companies as our partners with training, document preparation, halal manual implementation, and assistance during audits,” said Halalin CEO Yulia.
Yulia added that Umeken’s products have already been distributed in several countries and are now targeting the Indonesian market, as is Ichimaru. “Therefore, they are striving to comply with all existing regulations, including those from Halal BPOM and others. Furthermore, if the Indonesian market proves favorable, there is a strong possibility that they will open a factory in Indonesia,” said Yulia
Furthermore, the Head of Halal Unit at PT SUCOFINDO, Agus Suryanto, stated that they are ready to support Halalin in the inspection process for Halalin’s partners in Japan. “We welcome and appreciate the role of Halalin and the awareness of Japanese business players regarding regulations and consumer safety assurance in Indonesia. Halal certification is not only about fulfilling export obligations and expansion into Indonesia but also about ensuring the quality, hygiene, and safety of products for the Muslim community,” said Agus Suryanto.
In this collaboration, PT SUCOFINDO plays a role as the Main Halal Inspection Agency (LPH) conducting halal product inspections for partners of Halalin. “Our auditors conduct the inspection on site with a focus on independence, thoroughness, and professionalism to ensure products meet halal standards,” said Agus Suryanto, Head of Halal Unit at PT SUCOFINDO.
Agus Suryanto added that in the halal certification process, the audit report from SUCOFINDO’s Main LPH team will be reviewed by the Indonesian Council of Ulama (MUI) Fatwa Commission. Subsequently, the Halal Determination issued from this review will serve as the basis for BPJPH (Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency) to issue the Halal Certificate.
Apart from Japan, PT SUCOFINDO’s LPH has also conducted halal audit processes in various countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, India, China, Korea, and the United States. “In the future, as the Main LPH, we are ready to serve in the inspection and/or testing activities for halal products with a broader scope both nationally and internationally, in line with our role as the Main LPH. PT SUCOFINDO’s LPH is prepared to support the Mandatory Halal October (WHO) 2024 for imported products, especially for food, beverages, slaughtered meats, and slaughterhouse services. This includes raw materials, food additives, and auxiliary materials for food and beverage products,” said Agus Suryanto.
PT SUCOFINDO’s LPH itself has been accredited by BPJPH as the first Main Halal Inspection Agency in Indonesia since February 2023. This accreditation enables SUCOFINDO to conduct halal inspections for micro, small, medium, and large-scale businesses, as well as for international clients, with the largest number of halal auditors nationwide totaling 135.
