Jakarta, 25/7 – PT SUCOFINDO has strengthened its commitment to supporting emission reduction efforts through carbon offsetting by purchasing Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE) for strategic projects on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. This purchase of SPE is an effort to offset the carbon emissions generated by the Environmental and Social Innovation Award (2024) event organized by PT SUCOFINDO. Symbolically, the SPE carbon offset certificates were handed over by Iman Rachman, the President Director of the Indonesia Carbon Exchange, to Jobi Triananda, the President Director of PT SUCOFINDO, at the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
We appreciate PT SUCOFINDO for purchasing the Emission Reduction Certificates (SPE). By purchasing the SPE, SUCOFINDO has committed to supporting joint projects in carbon emission reduction. We hope that this purchase will serve as a collective motivation for environmental sustainability,” said Iman Rachman, the President Director of the Indonesia Stock Exchange.
Furthermore, Jobi Triananda, President Director of PT SUCOFINDO, stated that this purchase is a form of support as a TIC (Testing, Inspection & Certification) company and as a Validation and Verification Institution for the NEK (Carbon Economic Value) and Greenhouse Gas schemes. “This is a tangible step by PT SUCOFINDO, which involves carbon offsetting through the purchase of Carbon Certificates (Emission Reduction Certificates SRN-PPI) from sustainable projects,” said Jobi Triananda.
The sustainable projects involved in the purchase of PT SUCOFINDO of SPE include the gas-fired power plant of Combined Cycle Power Plant (PLTGU) Block 3 PJB Muara Karang, as well as the Lahendong Unit 5 & Unit 6 projects. “This purchase is made to offset the emissions generated during the ENSIA 2024 event. For ENSIA, we promoted low-emission activities and adopted the MICE (Meeting, Incentive, Conference, and Exhibition) Sustainability concept,” said Jobi Triananda.
On the same occasion, the President Director of PT Energy Management Indonesia (Persero), Surya Fitriadi, stated that the commitment to purchasing carbon credits supports the implementation of renewable energy.
We see this initiative of purchasing SPE to invigorate the carbon market business. We hope this can serve as an example for other businesses in carbon purchasing. We hope this step leads to greater progress, where we can collaborate and innovate to support emission reduction through renewable energy,” said Surya Fitriadi.
