SUCOFINDO Inaugurates its Telecommunications Equipment Test Laboratory
Cibitung (20/12) - PT. Sucofindo (Persero) inaugurates its Telecommunications Equipment Radio Frequency Test Laboratory. The inauguration was conducted by the Director General of Resources and Equipment of Post and Information Technology (SDPPI) of the Ministry of Communications and Information of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. IR. Ismail MT.
In his remarks, Sucofindo’s President Director Bachder Djohan Budi mentioned that the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Sector is rapidly developing, one of which is related to the 4.0 Industry in the Digital Age, as well as Big Data. These developments call for the need to ensure product quality, safety and health.
This assurance requires the support of all parties, which include regulators, producers, importers, and testing and certification institutions. For this reason, Sucofindo began to step up to establish a Telecommunication and Information Laboratory, which we started with the RF Laboratory for Mobile Phones, Handheld Computers and Tablets.
The event was also attended by the Deputy of Business and Restructuring and Development of the Ministry of State Owned Enterprises, represented by Sri Mariastati. Director General of PPI of the Ministry of Communication and Information, M. Hadiyana, and the Head of the Telecommunications Equipment Testing Center (BBPPT), Moch Rus’an and various Mobile Phone, Handheld Computers and Tablet businessmen.
Ismail, at the laboratory inauguration, mentioned that digital technology is now starting to change various sectors, ranging from the transportation to the banking sector. For mobile phones, handheld computers and tablets, Indonesia is currently a consumer country. Whilst, the market in Indonesia is quite large. In order for Indonesia to become a producer country in this sector, the government’s is encouraging Domestic Component Level (TKDN) for mobile phones, handheld computers, and tablets. Aside from that, health and safety aspects must also be considered for users of the aforementioned devices.
Ismail added that the Ministry of Communications and Information supports Sucofindo’s efforts to invest in establishing a testing laboratory for the testing of the aforementioned devices. It is hoped that with the help of Sucofindo, this can protect Indonesian consumers whilst also helping the competitiveness of business products in Indonesia. Furthermore encouraging the export of these devices, by making it easier for entrepreneurs to gain access to for testing domestically, said Ismail.
Bachder further explained, that RF Telecommunication Equipment Laboratory was built to enable testing for telecommunication devices connected to WLAN’s which are tested in conformance to Director General regulation no 9/DIRJEN/2005, as well as Bluetooth testing in accordance to Ministerial Decree No. 28 of 2015.
In addition, testing of devices connected with the 4G LTE network that were tested for compliance with Ministerial Decree No. 27 of 2015, devices for GSM & Wifi were tested in compliance with Director General Regulation No. 370/DIRJEN/2010 regulations and for WCDMA in accordance with Director General Regulation No. regulation. 173/SDPPI DIRJEN.
It is expected that the presence of a telecommunication device testing laboratory will provide a positive contribution to the government, the industrial world and the wider community as users in product assurance and security, said Bachder.
Head of Sucofindo’s Laboratory SBU, Anwar Tahir added that Sucofindo in addition to testing telecommunications equipment also has a laboratory that serves a variety of tests ranging from Calibration, Engineering and Mechanics, Oil and Gas Petrochemical Laboratories, and Environmental Chemistry and General Chemistry Laboratories.
With a variety of services offered including testing for calibration testing and certification of “Standar Nasional Indonesia”, halal testing, testing of oil & gas products, testing of medical devices, testing of telecommunication equipment and other testing.
Anwar Tahir, stipulated that Sucofindo’s Laboratory is supported by certified personnel and experts recognized both nationally and internationally. In addition, Sucofindo’s Laboratory has received ISO 17025 accreditation from the National Accreditation Committee, and has a network of laboratories located at 46 points throughout Indonesia.
SUCOFINDO is the first inspection company in Indonesia. A large amount of its shares, namely 95 percent is controlled by the state whilst the remaining 5 percent by the Societe General de Surveillance Holding SA (“SGS”).
