WTO Appreciates Indonesia On TLVS Implementation

the World Trade Organization appreciated Indonesia that successfully implements the Timber Legality Verification System (TLVS) to ensure that exported timber products are taken from legal source and sustainably produced. Ministry of Forestry (MoF) recorded the Indonesian forestry product exports reached US$3.2 billion in the H1/2014, with Asia is still a major market reached US$2.4 billion, or equal 74.25% of the total export value.
European Union (EU) market accounted for only 10.33% of the total export value of US$340.38 million.
In the past year, the EU market became the second largest market for Indonesia, worth US$6.06 billion.
Director of Processing and Marketing of Forest Product at the Directorate of Forestry Enterprises (BUK) Dwi Sudharto expressed the appreciation proves the increasing widespread recognition over the Timber Legality Verification System (TLVS).
"The international community is now beginning to look TLVS as accountable and transparent scheme to promote legal and sustainable timber trade," he explained, Sunday (07/13/2014).
