Shoes Import To Increase 10% This Year

Shoes producers predicted imported shoes will be up to 10% this year.Now the domestic shoes market attacking by import product from china. Later this industry will face Vietnam, Cambodia and Myanmar.
The Industry players from those countries get supports from their government so that shoes industry in those countries could grow faster compared to the domestic shoes industry.
Manager executive of Indonesia Shoes Association Tukidjan said during 2013 the shoes import value reached US$4354 million.
Meanwhile this year, import value predicted to increase of 10% because the raw material for shoes, lather, is increasingly rare.
“For example, Adidas is German brand. Even though produced in Indonesia, the shoes have to bring to German, than imported to Indonesia. It’s exported to German but then imported back to Indonesia,” said Tukidjan last week.
According to him, more than 80% of shoes material was imported. They are leather, rubber material, synthetic and textile. According to him this problem occur because the shoes industry down streaming has not run well.
