Crude palm oil (CPO) export value from North Sumatra may decline throughout this year due to production constraints in line with the tightening of development area. Indonesian Palm Oil Association (GAPKI) Secretary North Sumatra Timbas P. Ginting said the export value will decline following the implementation of biodiesel increase by 10%.
“The government begins to promote down-streaming program to reduce the export value of North Sumatra CPO this year. However, production may rise since domestic demand for biodiesel is increasing,” he told Bisnis, Wednesday (4/2).
Nevertheless, he added, diversion of palm oil supply in the country would be able to increase the price of fresh fruit bunches. (t06)
