Indonesia-Turkey To Cooperate In Agriculture

A number of Turkish businessmen are attracted to invest in Indonesia’s agricultural sector. The matter was conveyed by Indonesian Ambassador for Turkey Nahari Agustini upon meeting with Indonesian Agriculture Minister.Agriculture Minister Suswono said cooperation potential in agricultural sector with the Turkish businessmen is quite high. Currently, Indonesia’s export to the country reaches US$1.9 billion in 2013 while Indonesia’s import value reaches only US$500 million.

“This means there is a huge potential. The country’s businessmen interest on Indonesia’s agriculture investment is high,” he said, Wednesday (2/19).

He said Indonesia’s trade volume in Turkey had a surplus of US$1.6 billion in 2013. Both countries’ total trade volume reached US$2.2 billion consisted of the export of US$1.9 billion and US$300 million for the import.

“The trade volume increased US$500 million compared to the previous year of only US$1.7 billion,” he said.

Further he confirmed that the two countries have signed the MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) in agriculture and will immediately establish work group so that the MoU contents could be soon implemented.
