Coal production has reached its peak in June with a volume of 211 million tons, up 6.5% compared to the previous month. As a result of the surge in production, the government is trying to prevent increase in coal production by rejecting the revision on productions of several coal producers.

Sub Director of Business Operation Production Supervision and Marketing of Coal Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Gultom Guska said the government plans to forbid any revision to increase production so that this month production volume remains in the range of 211 million tons.

"Some companies have filed revisions on the increasing production, but their revisions were not approved related environmental performance," he said in Jakarta, Monday (8/19). (msw)
