Southeast Asia Cement Market increasingly Promising

Cement market in Southeast Asia is estimated to be more excited this year driven by the realization of infrastructure projects and residential development in a number of countries, including in Indonesia. President and CEO of Siam Cement Group Kan Trakulhoon said with a population of over 620 million people, Southeast Asia practically become a very attractive cement market amid economic crisis in the United States and Europe.

"With rapid economic growth, we believe the cement market in Indonesia is very promising," he said on the sidelines of the celebration of 100 years of the birth of Siam Cement Group (SCG), Thursday (8/15).
In celebration entitled 'Innovative SCG 100th Anniversary Exposition' The Siam Cement Group showcased its latest technologies and innovations, including the concept of the future and building material innovations.

In Thailand, although the second half of the consumption overshadowed concern slowing economic growth in the country, Kan optimistic this year cement market will still grow by about 7% -8%.

He admitted that growth was slower when compared with the achievements in 2012 which jumped 12%. However, the growth rate was possible because in 2011 the Thai economy hit by the floods. (tw)
