Frozen shrimps of Indonesia free from CVD

Frozen shrimp products from Indonesia are certainly free from the imposition of counter vailing duty (CVD) which alleged the US shrimp industry. Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sharif Cicip Sutardjo said final results of Commerce US Department (DOC) investigation revealed that the frozen shrimp products from Indonesia contain minimal levels of subsidies (de minimis), which is only 0.88 to 1.22%. Thus, Indonesian shrimp products exempted from CVD or 0%.

"Of the seven countries accused of giving subsidies, Indonesia and Thailand are exempted from CVD, while China, India, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Ecuador imposed CVD," Sharif said in his office, Wednesday (8/14).

DOC final decision was revealed on Tuesday (8/13) after CVD investigation since January 2013 and field verification in 3 to 21 June 2013.

According to Sharif, the final decision is an opportunity for Indonesia to increase production and export of frozen shrimp to the US. (tw)
