Jambi`s rice and soybean production is predicted to increase this year, the regional office of the Central Bureau of Statistic (BPS) said. The increase in the production of the two food commodities after a fall in 2012 would be attributable to wider harvest areas and improved productivity, Yos Rusdiansyah, head of the Jambi BPS said here on Monday.
Jambi`s rice production is forecast to rise 6.27 percent to 664,332 tons from last year, Yos said.
Meanwhile, Jambi`s soybean production is forecast to rise slightly by 0.26 percent on year to 3,525 tons.
In 2012, Jambi`s rice production fell 3.32 percent to 625,164 tons in dry unhulled rice and soybean production shrank 37.98 percent to 3,516 tons in dry beans.
The fall in the rice and soybean production was both attributable to decline in harvest areas.
