3 Cement companies demonstrate robust performance

Three giant cement companies nationwide scored convincing performance in the first quarter of 2013 with the average growth of 12.8% in net profit and 17.53% in revenue. Based on Bisnis’ data, the total net profits of three companies reached IDR2.56 trillion with the average net profit of IDR854.6 billion. PT Semen Indonesia Tbk (SMGR) scored the highest growth of 22.33% to IDR1.23 trillion.
PT Indocement Tunggal Prakarsa Tbk (INTP) also showed a positive trend in net profit by recording IDR1.14 trillion or growing by 14.6%. Meanwhile, PT Holcim Indonesia Tbk (SMCB) has experienced negative realization as its net profit fell by 30.78% to IDR181.59 billion in line with the increase in expenses.
In terms of revenue, the total revenue of the three companies grew by 17.53% to IDR11.9 trillion. Semen Indonesia once again scored the highest growth followed by Indocement and Holcim.
Pressure on Holcim derived from the increase in cost of goods sold as much as 9.34% to IDR1.44 trillion from IDR1.32 trillion. Therefore, the company’s gross profit rose slightly by 3.57% to IDR719.87 billion from IDR695.03 billion.
Moreover, the operating expenses post consisting of distribution cost, sale, as well as general and administration has jumped by 38.15% to IDR398.88 billion from IDR288.74 billion. As the result, Holcim’s operating profit fell by 21.93% to IDR300.26 billion. (t06/tw)
