Global Issues on food security amid the global warming threat actually boost the global fertilizer demand.International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) projected the world fertilizer demand increase 2.8% this year, and is going to rise again by 2.5% in 2013 or 181 million tons of nutrient fertilizers (NPK).
"The largest increase occurred in South Asia which reached 60% of world demand," said IFA Director Luc Maine in the seminar of International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) in Jakarta, Thursday (9/6/2012).
He estimates that food availability will be depleted and prices of agricultural products will be more expensive in the next five years due to an urge to meet the increasingly world's food demands, besides the need for bioenergy. (T07/msw)
