Indonesia\'s Non-oil & gas export grows 2.74% in Q1/2012

The export of non-oil and gas industry grew 2.74% to US$29.12 compared to the same period last year.
Ministry of Trade M.S. Hidayat said the general performance of industrial sector in first quarter 2012 still needs to be improved, as the work cycle of the industry is not very aggressive at the beginning of the year.
"Moreover, the export performance of industrial products is declining following economic crisis in Europe," he said in the meeting with Parliamentary Commission focuses on trade, industry, and investment on Monday, May 28, 2012.
However, the import of non-oil and gas products rose 17.93% with total value of US$33.06 billion.
Thus, trade balance of industrial products was still deficit cumulatively as many as US$14.25 billion.
Domestic investment in industrial sector reached IDR8.12 trillion in first quarter 2012, while foreign investment US$2.31 billion. (T06/aph)
