SUCOFINDO was established on October 22, 1956 as the first inspection company in Indonesia whose shares at present consists of 95% owned by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia and 5% by Societe Generale de Surveillance (SGS) Holding, SA.

Its initial operation of inspection services was focused mainly on agriculture commodity, continuity of commodity flow, and securing state foreign exchange in export and import. Through its creativity, SUCOFINDO carried out competence-based innovations of new services in line with the development of business need.
